Characteristics of the Brassicaceae (Pesman, 1992):

Dicot.  Flowers regular with 4 sepals and 4 petals arranged in the form of a cross.  6 stamens, 4 long and 2 short.  Pistil 1.  Flowers usually in many-flowered racemes.  Leaves alternate.  Herbaceous plants with acrid, peppery taste.
